This beautiful leather sketchbook is handcrafted from the highest quality water-buffalo hide. A celtic design is embossed onto the leather and painted in green enamel. The leather journal contains high quality plain homemade paper for drawing and sketching.

VEGAN' Artist's Sketchbook (free of animal products), Sari Material Binding
This new sketchbook has been introduced in response to requests from some customers who wanted a ‘vegetarian’ or ‘Vegan’ version. It is made entirely of renewable or recycled materials, and is free of animal products. It is also developed with a new handmade paper that is suitable for an especially wide variety of media including wet media.
The material refracts the light, shimmering between emerald green, maroon and lilac, as shown in the animation.

Quality: The paper is a newly developed ‘rags, rice, and okra’ paper * .This is a plain handmade paper produced from recycled rags, and rice pulp. These materials give the paper an interesting tooth that is wonderful to draw and sketch on. The third ingredient - juice from okra or ‘lady’s finger’ – seals the paper; which means that it can also be used for wet media such as water colour, without the paint penetrating to the next page. This paper will NOT yellow with age.

* This paper is cut from large handmade sheets, and some ‘deckled’* edges remain on about 50% of the pages. Deckled’ describes the edges of pages that have been removed from the pressing frame without trimming. A ‘deckled’ edge is frayed and irregular, and is a feature much prized by many artists and art students. If you do not appreciate paper of this kind please do NOT purchase this journal. There are other sketchbooks and journals/diaries with regularly cut pages, which would suit your needs far better.
