Free Acrylic Painting Art Lessons

Charles Harrington holds two degrees in architecture, later accepting a faculty position with the School of Art and Architecture at Louisiana Tech Univeristy, allowing him to indulge in two passions. Charles taught for 23 years before leaving his position to pursue art full time. Charles is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the International Society of Acrylic Painters and the National Oil & Acrylic Painters' Society, and has published both DVD courses and books. This acrylic lesson was first published in 1996 and describes the benefits of acrylics together with step-by-step instructions.

Lorraine's creativity started from a very early age, and to this day she remains creative, never commiting to one genre, but continues to experiment and develop. Lorraine taught acrylic painting at the Murray Harbour Community School for two years, and is based on Prince Edward Island on the south east coast bordering on Northumberland Strait, with an ocean view for inspiration. In this acrylic demo, Lorraine uses chalk to draw onto the background, and continues to build up layers of paint with glazing techniques.

Greg lives and works in Southwest Florida whose achievements including winning the national award at the National Arts Club in New York City, three times, and being awarded Master Pastelist status by the Pastel Society of America.

Donald Neff is an American artist passionate about American landscapes. His love for nature typically captures scenes centred around water. In 1998 Donald was featured on the television broadcast 'Silicon Valley Business Report' whose focal point was based upon his art. In this plein air acrylic painting demonstration, Donald Neff captures the beautiful greens and yellows of the Merced River that flows through Yosemite Valley.

Leslie Pease graduated from UMass Dartmouth with a BFA in illustration, and later went to work freelance. This acrylic tutorial emphasises the importance of sketching and studying (anatomy) in order to portray hands convincingly.

Diane Johnson has been painting and instructing since 1981. She is the founding editor and designer of award-winning monthly, Plein Air Magazine (now entitled Fine Art Connoisseur), and is a member of many prestigious art societies including Pastel Society of America and the National Society of Acrylic Painters. This two part demonstration shows the steps needed to carry out a successful commissioned painting, from research and interviewing to planning, drawing and painting.
